Pelatihan Kemampuan Berbicara Bahasa Inggris melalui Narasi Aktivitas Sehari-hari Menggunakan Simple Present Tense

Abstrak

This community service program was conducted in partnership with SMA PGRI Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta, aiming to improve students’ English speaking ability through daily activity narration using the Simple Present Tense. The program was implemented in September 2025 through a practice-based training approach combining short presentations, guided exercises, interactive discussions, and speaking practice. The participants were tenth-grade students who required reinforcement in using basic English structures for oral communication. Data were collected through observation and pre-test and post-test assessments. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ ability to construct simple sentences, use the Simple Present Tense accurately, and deliver daily activity narratives more fluently and coherently. The use of sequence words also helped students organize their ideas more systematically. In addition, students demonstrated increased confidence in speaking English and showed positive responses toward interactive learning activities. The program contributed to the development of more communicative and contextual English learning in the school environment. It is recommended that similar training be implemented continuously to support students’ communicative competence development.
